The Stanmore Music Festival once again delivered a spectacular day of performances, drawing crowds from across the area to celebrate local talent in all its forms.
What makes this festival truly unique is its heart. The event honours the late Richard Gill, a beloved musician, conductor and long-time Stanmore resident who dreamed of bringing free, accessible music to the community, much like the famed Fête de la Musique in France. Thanks to the passion of local organisers, volunteers and the Inner West Council, Richard’s vision continues to flourish.
Since its first festival in 2019, the event has grown into a much-loved annual celebration featuring more than 60 performances across multiple stages. And while the logistics are supported by Council and generous local businesses, the true magic comes from the performers who donate their time, and the volunteers who ensure everything runs seamlessly.
CobdenHayson’s own Jonathan Hammond was proud to support the festival for another year – helping ensure the event remains free and deeply connected to the community.
From soulful acoustic sets to high-energy bands and family-friendly entertainment, the day was a reminder of how music brings people together. Judging by the smiling crowds and the dancing in the streets, Richard Gill’s wish has well and truly become a living tradition in Stanmore.
